Is Christianity a Western Religion?

goddess greek mythology

Western religion is a tradition of JudeoChristian faith that is common in the Western World, especially in the domestic environment. The development of modern secularism has been closely connected to this tradition. However, it did not evolve in a vacuum. Instead, it evolved within a specific cultural context and ideologies. Although some people practice traditional Western religions, others have left the faith. Some are more hostile to this tradition.

Christianity

If you think that Christianity is only a western religion, you're wrong. This religion is a worldwide phenomenon. It is practiced by people from more than 190 countries. It is a powerful force throughout the world, and it strives to unify peoples from different regions. Its followers are devoted to its doctrines.

Despite the fact that Christianity was the dominant religion in the Western World, it has not been that way for a long time. Christianity today is stronger than it was in the West. This shift in numerical strength is just part of the story. Many Eastern groups still believe Christianity is a western religion.

Marxism

While Marxism may be questioned by some Christians as a political philosophy or religion, most Christians disagree. It is important to recognize that both are religions. The Christian faith believes that God created man. It also teaches that he is an individual and not just a collection. Marxism rejects this view and asserts that man is socially and culturally interdependent.

Marx was not an atheist but he was very materialistic and had strong views towards science. He also greatly admired scientific inquiry. Marx's atheism manifested itself in his opposition of religious belief.

Progressivism

Progressivism, in western religion, is an idea which aims to make the world a better one by eliminating old beliefs and replacing with newer ones. This religion doesn't rely on divine revelation to guide it. It tries to rectify the mistakes of the past to create a new future. Progressivism rejects the notion of a soul and seeks to replace it with an artificial, naturalistic reality. Progressivism, while attempting to destroy old beliefs and replace them by new ones, also offers hope for society.

Progressives believe humankind is on "the right" side of history and can identify History's goals. They believe that change in human values is the only way to progress. In the end, they argue for a world without religion or classes. Unfortunately, this view does not have any basis in empirical science. It is based upon an extravagantly religious and ideological outlook.

Eastern Orthodox Church

Some Westerners believe that Eastern Orthodox Christianity is a Western religion. They see this as unwarranted. Concern has been raised by a recent incident. A priest from the Orthodox Church in America was briefly expelled after he wore a cassock to the rally in Washington, D.C., in support of Unite the Right candidate. Other clergy have also voiced their political opinions via social media and personal blogs.

Orthodox Christianity is centered on the Holy Trinity. It transcends Western religions. Orthodox Christians believe Christ suffered the death of a human being, was cast into Hell, then rose again to save sinners still trapped in Hell. In the process, he cured mankind of its guilt and released it from Hell.
